Makeup by Trecie

To many it's just makeup, but that is dependent upon who is applying it. Contrecia ‘Trecie’ Tharpe is an artist, to say the least. Makeup to her is more than a hobby… more than a mere application…more than strokes from a brush…it’s a passion, her love for art and beauty magnified. From lessons to videos, from brides to models, from high fashion to glamor, Trecie is an aficionado of makeup artistry. Trecie has worked under the legendary J.K. Hunter and has had her work featured/published in several publications. She was recently named the makeup artist for the TV show ‘Not Just Country’ and has worked behind the scenes at fashion and award shows. She has worked with photographers Tavell Brown, David Farrell and Rashaan of Xlclusive Xposure just to name a few. With work and dedication to the field, Trecie hopes to be one of the top makeup artists the world has seen. When asked what keeps her going, Trecie responds ‘My passion for makeup is like my second baby. I feed it, I nurture it and in turn I get to watch it grow. I love the look on the face of a client after I have finished a look… that keeps me coming back…that keeps me longing for more.'

The lack of recognition that she saw for those behind the scenes inspired Trecie to start The Mirror Awards which will honor those professionals in Tennessee during its first year. With the awards slated for April 2011, Trecie hopes to showcase the talent of those that work hard and have the same passion and drive that she does. ‘The awards show is my way of recognizing those that work so hard for the industry. It is easy to feel neglected and as if your work is not worthy of accolades when it really is. My hopes are to recognize Tennesseans first and branch out each year.’

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Trecie’s vision is keen. Her predictions for the future are expansive, but she’s shooting for the stars.
